With an unprecedented 60+ years of loyal service to the Susquehanna Fire & Rescue company #4, Albert J Schmitt Sr. was a legend in his own time. Through Albert's dedication, knowledge, expertise, and attention to detail, the social club and the fire company have been able to survive and thrive through some extremely difficult times.

During his tenure, Albert served in the Marching Club as the Marching Club Treasurer, was a member of the Long-Range Planning Committee, he obtained low interest loans for both apparatus and construction, obtained 501c3 status, actively participated in numerous fundraising activities, obtained a liquor license, was our Fireman's Relief Treasurer as well as the Fireman's Relief Director.

As we continue to work towards realizing our dream of a Fire Museum in the 1901 building, our future museum will bear his name.

Albert was the epitome of dedication, providing an unprecedented service to his community. We all strive to live up to his example. Albert’s memory is a testament to the type individuals necessary to guarantee the future of fire and emergency services in our local communities.
