Yesterday evening, the volunteers were alerted to the 100 block of South Fourth Street in the borough for an investigation of a smoke detector sounding. The crew from Engine 80 located a kitchen fire while conducting a 360 of the structure. The assignment was upgraded with police getting reports from neighbors of possible entrapment. The crew from Engine 80 made a quick knock of the fire with the crew from Ladder 80 conducting the search. The search was negative for humans and one dog was removed. Crews worked the scene for 90 minutes with mutual aid companies. The Columbia Borough Fire Department had 25 members turn out for this incident.
