In December of 2020, Act 172 of 2016, was amended to allow School Districts to consider providing a property tax credit to volunteer firefighters within their respective district. On Thursday October 19th, Columbia Borough School District became one of the first in Lancaster County to enact a resolution to provide the volunteers from Columbia Borough Fire Department (that meet the criteria) this tax credit. As well, the School Board agreed to start the program as of January 01, 2023, and run the tax credit program on a calendar year.

Tonight, various officers and firefighters gathered at the School Administration building for a press release and photo with School Board members.
